George Sumner
George Sumner is a San Francisco Bay Area artist, specializing in oceanic art, among other interests. He bases his work on explorations of ecological identity.
His paintings are found around the world in various places including art galleries and resorts, as well as in public collections including the Statue of Liberty Museum, the University of Moscow, the University of Hawaii, the Gorbachev Foundation, the Herbert Hoover Institute of Peace, the United Nations and NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab.
Sumner is internationally recognized as a pioneer in creating art with themes that recognize environmental conservation. He has influenced a generation of marine and environmental artists who came after him.
A special interest for Sumner, which he shares with his wife Donnalei, is educating children about wildlife and saving our fragile environment.
